SIXTEEN YEARS AND FOREVER TO GO
Our story
Claire Jarman trained at the New Zealand Institute of Beauty Therapy and Electrolysis in 1995, and spent the years that followed developing her skills and experience across Wellington and Hawke's Bay. When the opportunity to purchase the salon she was working in fell through, it sparked the beginning of something of her own.
In 2010, Claire purchased a small salon in the Village Court, gave it a fresh new look and renamed it Mia Dolce. With just two treatment rooms and three staff, the salon began its journey. Three years later came the opportunity to take on a lease on Joll Road, creating the space for Mia Dolce to grow.
Today, we're a team of nine, including six internationally qualified beauty therapists and certified Dermalogica experts. We're proud to be one of a select group of Diamond Skin Centres in New Zealand, recognising our commitment to education, professionalism and results.
We've always been selective about the brands and products we offer, choosing professional, premium skincare and beauty products that we know and trust. In our treatment rooms, we use professional-grade products and advanced techniques, combining expertise with personalised care to achieve the best possible results for your skin.
At the heart of Mia Dolce is our belief that everyone should feel comfortable walking through our doors. Claire Jarman
Owner and Director | Dermalogica Skin Expert
Claire trained at the New Zealand Institute of Beauty Therapy and Electrolysis in Palmerston North in 1995 and has built a career spanning more than thirty years. Her work took her through Wellington and Hawke's Bay before she became Owner and Operator of Mia Dolce in 2010.Advanced skin health and professional education have been the foundation of her whole career. Claire has worked with Dermalogica for over thirty years and is a certified Dermalogica Skin Expert with deep expertise in skin health, advanced treatments and professional product prescription.

Melanie Field

Melanie brings more than 30 years of experience with leading international beauty brands, including an impressive 22 years with Lancôme and multiple brand awards to show for it.
She loves helping clients find exactly the right product, and as Mia Dolce's in house makeup artist she creates beautiful looks for everything from everyday wear to weddings and special occasions.

Caitlyn Alabaster

Caitlyn holds a Certificate in Beauty Therapy along with advanced certifications in microneedling and dermaplaning, and is a qualified Dermalogica Skin Expert.
With five years in the industry, three of them at Mia Dolce, she specialises in brows and lashes and has a real gift for enhancing natural features. She loves connecting with her clients and building lasting relationships, so every visit feels personal.

Jasmine Wells

Jaz is a highly experienced beauty therapist and electrologist with over 35 years in the industry. She graduated from the Joyce Blok Institute of Professional Beauty Therapy in 1991 and has since built a career across New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom.
Skin health and client care are her passion, and she brings a calm, thorough approach to every single treatment.

Deanna joined us on placement through EIT and was very quickly recognised as a perfect fit for the team. Four years on she holds a Diploma in Beauty Therapy and Electrolysis and is a qualified Dermalogica Skin Expert.
She enjoys every aspect of beauty therapy and takes real pride in creating a relaxing, comfortable space where clients can switch off and feel properly cared for.

Mia is a qualified beauty therapist with a Diploma in Beauty and Body Therapy and Electrolysis, and a certified Dermalogica Skin Expert. She has been with us for three years.
Her passion is advanced skin treatments, microneedling and the Dermalogica Pro Skin 60 facial. She works closely with her clients to create personalised treatment plans that deliver real, visible change, and she is dedicated to ongoing education.

Lily Yorke
Front of House & 2IC for Lancôme
Lily is the welcoming face of Mia Dolce, working as our Front of House and 2IC for Lancôme.
With a passion for all things beauty, she has a particular love for makeup and fragrance and enjoys helping clients find products that enhance their natural beauty and make them feel their best.
Lily takes pride in creating a warm, bubbly and calm atmosphere, ensuring every client feels comfortable, cared for, and welcomed from the moment they walk through the door.
